Volunteer of the Month!
Mrs Margery Woodcock
of Banner Cross Lunch & Friendship Club
Margery Woodcock & son Steve
Margery is retiring from preparing, cooking and serving lunch after more than twenty years. She has been a tremendously faithful volunteer - reliable, unflappable and the best carver of gammon the world has ever seen!
We said to her we would tell her when the time had come for her to "retire". We didn't have to. She decided to retire just before her 90th Birthday in December 2011. She is now a member of the Lunch Club being served but she is sure she should be doing something. In short, Margery has been an absolute treasure for more than twenty years.
Marjery joined the volunteers when her brother, Alan Smith was in charge of the club. Her son is now one of the four co-ordinators and her daughter-in-law is one of the four Cooking Team leaders. What a family of volunteers.
Bryan Coates, Roger Dunn, Barry Jackson, Steve Woodcock. (Co-ordinators of Banner Cross Lunch & Friendship Club)
Charity Shop coming soon
We are currently working towards opening a Charity Shop on the ground floor of our premises to help raise some valuable funds to support our groups, members and services. We are already collecting donated items so if anyone has anything that they would like to donate to use please get in touch as we would be extremely grateful.
We would like to thank all that have already donated items so far and all who have provided support and assistance with the project. Thanks to Bassetlaw Hospice for all their invaluable help and advice.
